When Touratech’s Executive Director Herbert Schwarz planned his recent trip from Canada to Mexico he took the decision to invite Helge Pedersen along for the ride.
The inclusion of Helge in the team was an inspired move. Not only is the Norwegian one of the world’s most experienced motorcycle travellers but he is also a highly accomplished photographer. Along with professional picture taker, Arnold Debuss, the two would be more than capable of responding to Herbert’s photographic brief. On top of all this he has a huge knowledge of BMW motorcycles.
The four-person team of Herbert Schwarz, Ramona Eichhorn, Arnold Debuss and Helge Pedersen rode from Vancouver, Canada to Tecate, Mexico over four weeks on two BMW G 650 Xchallenge and two HP2 Enduro motorcycles. The aim was to produce the images for Touratech’s 2007 product catalogue as well as film enough material for a DVD of the journey. Because of this, capturing the feeling and excitement of the adventure was a major part of the two photographers’ jobs.
