For evidence of his photographic skills look no further than the quality of BMW Motorrad’s press and marketing pictures, many of which have been taken by Arnold. The Munich-based photographer is also used to taking pictures in remote and difficult environments, and for nearly ten years he was the official BMW photographer for the Dakar rally team.
On this trip however, Arnold was lucky enough to ride one of the all-new G 650 Xchallenge motorcycles – a bike that certainly struck a chord with him and certainly a great endorsement considering the fact that Arnold’s personal garage contains an HP2 Enduro, R 1200 GS and F 650 GS Dakar. “I thought the Xchallenge was an amazing bike,” he enthused. “It’s such a fun bike to ride and so easy to enjoy.”
The trip from Canada to Mexico was also a great opportunity for Arnold to explore his native country. Despite living in Germany for 30 years now he originally hails from San Francisco, California. “This was a fantastic chance for me to see some parts of North America that I’ve never had the opportunity to explore,” he explained. “It’s not a trip I would have attempted by myself but thanks to Herbert I got the opportunity – and the memories will stay with me for a long time.”
