Excerpt from the regulations The BMW Motorrad Power Cup 2005 is an official racing series held in accordance with the statutes of the FIM/UEM (Union Européenne de Motocyclisme. Included in the terms of these regulations governing the BMW Motorrad Power Cup 2005 is the following: - In order to be eligible to take part, riders must be in possession of an I-licence in accordance with the applicable motor racing regulations of the respective country and the provisions of the local organiser.
- For this racing series, the only motorcycle that is permitted to enter the contests is the BMW K 1200 R, built in 2005, displaying the clearly defined adjustments laid down in the technical regulations.
- The 32 free starting positions will be distributed among the teams at the start of the season. It is up to the teams to determine who shall be the riders. Approximately four further starting positions are reserved for guest riders, VIPS and journalists.
- The BMW Motorrad Power Cup 2005 will consist of a total of seven scoring heats, each to be held at the MotoGP motorcycling world championship contests.
- In general, all races will comprise two qualifying heats (of 30 minutes each) and one race (of approx. 70 km). To qualify for admission to a race, the rider must achieve a time which is no more than 120 % of the fastest time achieved in training.
- Each event shall include a race of at least 70 km. The precise distance of the race and the timetable will be announced together with the General Information.
- Each rider completing a race in first place will receive 25 points. 20 points will be awarded for second place and 16 for third place. The remaining scores are: 4 place: 13 points, 5 place: 11 points, 6: 10, 7: 9, 8: 8, 9: 7, 10: 6, 11: 5, 12: 4, 13: 3, 14: 2, 15: 1.
- The points that each rider scores in the scored races over the course of the racing season are added to produce a total.
- In addition to the prize money awarded for each individual race, further attractive prizes are given to those riders with the best overall scores at the end of the season. The overall winner of the BMW Motorrad Power Cup 2005 will receive a BMW 630i Coupé, the rider in second overall position will win a BMW X3 2.0 d and the one finishing third will be awarded a BMW motorcycle.
