"Respect" in the face of so much power: the BMW K 1200 R Cup Machine

It was with good reason that the people at BMW Motorrad decided to let the K 1200 R loose on the racetrack. Not only the spectacular looks of the most powerful roadster of all time speak for this bike, but also some hard facts: the handling-oriented yet stable geometry in conjunction with the short final drive geometry are the ideal prerequisites for really burning up the tarmac. Doing away with the fairing not only raises the styling score, but also puts a grin on the rider's face thanks to the bike's lower weight.

The engineers at the BMW Motorrad Motorsport department, however, also thought up a few extras for the racetrack. It's not only the speed that gives the crowd the shivers every time the bikes roar by, but also the unforgettable sound thundering from the Laser Racing exhaust pipes. Carbon fibre is used a great deal for the add-ons such as small fairing and rear section to save a few kilograms. The breathtaking design of the aerodynamic chassis add-ons of the K 1200 R give it the real hero look.

175 bhp and 130 Nm combined with a wheelbase of 1,580 mm - this means optimum acceleration coming out of a bend is only possible if you really know how to power-slide. Thrust only ends right up in the 5-digit rpm region - the ultimate power challenge for each of the 23 riders!
