Daytona (USA) Tel. +1 386 253 7223 Along with Indianapolis, Daytona – the “World Center of Racing” – is the most important and demanding race track in the USA. As long ago as the beginning of the last century, the long, wide and flat beach on the coast of Florida attracted top speed record attempts, and speeds of over 300 km/h were achieved here in the twenties. After initial beach races in the thirties, the first race track was built by Bill France after the Second World War and the “Daytona International Speedway” was opened in 1959 – an attraction from the outset. The grandstands now have a capacity of 160,000. The legendary “200 Miles of Daytona” provide the setting for the start to the BMW Motorrad BoxerCup 2003.
