The 2002 season with Europe's best riders. The thundering roar of powerful boxer engines announces the start of the extra-special motorsport event: the BMW Motorrad BoxerCup. Now entering its fourth season, the series will see thirty-two of Europe's best riders, hailing from ten nations, deploy the most daring tactics as they battle it out for first place. Four famous guest riders will complete the talented starting field, which will be headed by last year's three winners: Stéphane Mertens (Belgium), Fernando Cristóbal (Spain) and Andy Hofmann (Germany). As agile as it is technologically sophisticated, the two-cylinder boxer engine emits a full-bodied sound that underscores the motorsport ambitions of the R 1100 S . Eight of Europe's most prestigious racetracks, among them the famous Formula One tracks at Donington, Spa-Francorchamps and Magny-Cours, will demand the very greatest skill and complete concentration from all teams. The riders' hard work lasts from the opening race in Donington to the finale in Magny-Cours and will be well rewarded: along with the total prize money of 225,000 euros, the three overall winners at the end of the season will receive a BMW M coupé (1st place), a BMW R 1150 GS Adventure (2nd place) and a BMW F 650 CS (3rd place). Get ready for eight thrilling, top-class motorcycle races, and keep your fingers crossed for your favourite rider! |
