Donington Park. Ticket hotline: +44-1332-850 955 Tourist office: +44-1530-411 767 Donington Park is just south-east of Derby, 120 km north of London. Built in 1931, it was specifically designed to host motorcycle races and is one of the oldest courses in the world. It has seen numerous motorcycling Grand Prix events, and in 1993, Donington had the honour of hosting the British Fomula One Grand Prix. High speed stretches make up the bulk of the 4-km racetrack. The Melbourne hairpin bend was added as recently as 1985 and demands the maximum from the transmissions and brakes of all vehicles. The track is situated in a natural amphitheatre, meaning that the spectators can enjoy an excellent view over the circuit. And if you have the time, the Donington museum for historic race cars is well worth a visit. The first round of the 2002 BMW Motorrad BoxerCup will take place in Donington on Sunday, 28th April during the British Superbike championship. Location: 120 km north of London off the M1 motorway, 13 km south-east of Derby. East Midlands Airport: 3 km. www.acu.org.uk E-Mail: info@doningtonpark.co.uk |
