1993: Funduro F 650 - the Eurobike Joining the traditional two-cylinder flat-twin "boxer" series and the K Series at the end of 1993, a third series is created: the F Series, initially represented by the F 650. The first single-cylinder BMW since 1966 is a joint European project. BMW developes the technological concept and the dynamic design, with collaboration partner Aprilia supporting development and managing the assembly process. The construction of the 650-ccm-single-cylinder 4-valve engine, modified according to BMW specifications, is taken on by the Austrian engine specialist Rotax. As May 1995, BMW is the first manufacturer to fit all motorcycles of its current range with a catalytic converter as standard, also offering to retrofit this item in the relevant models. |
