2000: A new millennium begins

What does the new millennium have in store? BMW confirms its acceptance of ecological responsibilities. BMW motorcycles are becoming more ecologically compatible. All current models are fitted with a closed-loop catalytic converter, and have been in 1995. The development of the ABS, in some models now part of an integrated brake system and combined with the new Evo brake, is consistently pursued by BMW. As part of the thorough model update process, the 1100 Boxer R, RS and RT are given the higher capacity 1130 ccm engine. In this way, whilst always mindful of its tradition, BMW looks ahead to the future of motorcycling.
