Six Years of Success and No Sign of Stopping!
This year's event was as fantastic as ever. Even if the more than 30,000 fans and friends of BMW Motorrad weren't so lucky with the weather this time round, the programme still offered enough highlights to make this weekend an unforgettable experience for all concerned. The BMW Motorrad Biker Meeting 2006 took place on July 7-9, and guests from 40 nations and a variety of BMW clubs came together once more to experience this unique event comprising action, world premiers and a spectacular side programme.

Chris Pfeiffer defied the rain clouds on board his BMW F 800 S. He demonstrated to an enthusiastic audience excerpts from his freestyle show, which earned him the title of Stunt Wars World Champion as well as the European 'Chief' of crazy motorcycle riders. We would like to take this opportunity also to thank the people of Garmisch, who took the trouble to create a special asphalt area for this purpose. Both Chris and his colleague Simo Kirssi set the wheels of their BMW HP2 Enduros into a real spin on the slopes of the Hausberg.

Then there was the world premier of the BMW R 1200 R. It wasn't just the purists among the BMW Motorrad fans that were thrilled at the sight of this modern classic model, a unique synthesis of confidence, fascination and function. One visitor was particularly bowled over, when he actually won one a bike of this model, crowning his visit in a manner that he could never have hoped for. The perfect opportunity to celebrate wasn't long in waiting. On Friday night, it was first of all the turn of 'Living Planet' to get the guests on their feet, followed later on by 'Byron', near the camp fire, who even managed to go one better. At the Biker Party on the Saturday evening, the music from all over the world took the mood to unknown heights.

You can read all about the adventurers and their travel reports, the ultimate BMW motorcycle parade through the local area, the test rides, trial courses, and all the other programme items in this review. We would like to thank all the participants for the smooth running of the entire event and, of course, for the fantastic atmosphere. Particular thanks also go to the people of Garmisch for their wonderful cooperation. We will be doing it all again in 2007 on July 6-8, so write it in red in your diaries!
